The good news first: I finished my second novel! Moving up to Seattle to focus on my writing did the trick. I was able to get into a steady writing routine after leaving the sparkly distractions of my glamorous life in Las Vegas, and here's the cover of my latest book, Rough Trade! Click here to pre-order your copy now!

A sequel to my first novel Full Service, Rough Trade is an anti-billionaire romance, taking Mary, the woman who runs a brothel in Nevada offering women their heart's (and body's) desires out to Catalina, where she's swept off her feet by an alluring billionaire who could be the answer to her problems, or is he the cause of them? If you read the first book, hunky cowboy Jared is back, and I've introduced a few new sexy diversions for Mary to play with along the way too.

A question I'm often asked, is why a lefty old punk like me is selling my book on a platform that I also try to avoid using. The answer is that while I dislike capitalism, I'm also an artist trying to survive within it, and there are very few options for an indie author trying to get the word out to readers. Unfortunately, Amazon has the widest international reach by a long shot. While I agree with the oft-quoted Audre Lorde when she said “the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house,” she didn't mean to say that we shouldn't use all available options to fight oppression, and I'm sure she definitely didn't mean for us to use her words to feel that action is futile. Instead, I'm inviting you to join me in a fun experiment: can we make my sexy little anti-billionaire novel a huge success using our technofeudal overlord's platform? Think of it as a tiny way to stick it to the man, knowing that every little bit of resistance matters, and why not have fun in the process? And while I know that another great gal, Emma Goldman, didn't directly say "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution," it was the spirit of what she was getting at in her autobiography (later distilled by a fan of the cause to fit onto a t-shirt in the 70s). All of that to say that I want to write subversive books that are fun and easy to read, with the lofty hope that more people feel inspired to believe that change is possible. And if I have to use Amazon to get that word out, I'll do it.

Still with me? If you read through that diatribe, that tells me you are a person who likes to read, and maybe has some spare time on their hands. I'm looking for ARC readers, so if you have time this November to read my new book and can leave a review on Amazon and/or Goodreads on or near December 1st when the book becomes available, I will send you a free digital copy in the next week or so! That way you don't have to give a single penny to Mr. Bezos and you'll be doing a huge favour to a fledgling indie author. Send me an email to pr@bettina.ca now with "I want an ARC of Rough Trade" and I'll send you a link as soon as the ARC is ready for your eyes. I'm sending a limited number of copies out, so let me know now!
