In which city did you take your first class or private session with Bettina May?
I first took the class at the Asbury Lanes, in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The event was a 45 minute drive for me.
What made you decide to take the class?
I saw an article in the Asbury Park Press about the pin-up shoot opportunity. Since I love to get all dolled- up, I immediately signed up!
Did you have any previous experience with a vintage look, or was this a brand new experience for you?
I am an eclectic/eccentric dresser. I love all things unusual. I have worn vintage in the past, though not with the full vintage hair and make-up look.
Did you go on to pursue more photoshoots, or take another class with Bettina?
I have attended three photo shoots with Bettina. So much fun! I can’t wait till the next time!
How do you feel your life has changed since taking this class?
I have completely changed my make-up style, foregoing the heavy eyeliner and mascara on the lower lashes, and embracing the red lip stick. I have had my hair cut, and love to use my hot rollers to get the vintage look. I have also purchased four vintage eyeglass frames, and had them converted to my prescriptions, and plain lenses as well.
What would you want to tell other people who want to try something new with their life but aren’t confident enough to take the plunge?
A photo shoot is not risky at all! Just find something fun to wear, paint on some red lips, and have fun with yourself!
Anything else you want to add?
Nothing else to add, except that I am having a blast with the vintage look.
